Our friends at Dayton School District are kindly sharing the Junior High School parking lot with the community on Saturday, May 10th from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. for people that would like to have their sales there. Anyone wishing to use the lot should plan to bring their own tables and be sure to remove everything they've brought at the end of their sale. We will include the parking lot on the City's garage sale maps. Nuestros amigos del Distrito Escolar de Dayton amablemente compartirán el estacionamiento de la escuela secundaria con la comunidad el sábado 10 de mayo, de 9:00 a.m. a 5:00 p.m., para quienes deseen realizar sus ventas allí. You might be wondering why you ve seen an increase to the amount of your sewer service here in Dayton. The increase was necessary to fund much needed upgrades and repairs to two vital parts of our sewer system; the replacement of the midspan of the utility/pedestrian bridge, which carries the City s sewer and water lines across the Yamhill River; and the new sewer lift station on Hwy 221, which frequently lost power in its old location resulting in discharge of sewage into Palmer Creek. The lift station had to be relocated to install a generator on site limiting interruptions to its power supply. Both of these projects were funded with the assistance of loans that have since entered repayment. To fund the payments on these loans, Dayton City Council passed Resolution 2023/24-07 during a public hearing on December 4, 2023. This resolution increased sewer rates in February 2024 and again in February of this year. Although the City s sewer rate study recommended an increase to $97.65 per month beginning in 2025, City Council agreed to an increase solely in the amount necessary to fund the loan payments on these projects. The increase each year was approved in the amount of $13.67, making the sewer rate $71.85 per month per Equivalent Dwelling Unit (EDU) as of the February 2025 billing. Quizás se pregunte por qué ha visto un aumento en el servicio de alcantarillado aquí en Dayton. Este aumento fue necesario para financiar mejoras y reparaciones necesarias de dos partes vitales de nuestro sistema de alcantarillado: el reemplazo del tramo intermedio del puente peatonal/de servicios públicos, que lleva las tuberías de alcantarillado y agua de la ciudad a través del río Yamhill; y la nueva estación de bombeo de alcantarillado en la autopista 221, que sufría frecuentes cortes eléctricos en su antigua ubicación, lo que provocaba la descarga de aguas residuales en el arroyo Palmer. La estación de bombeo tuvo que ser reubicada para instalar un generador en el lugar y limitar las interrupciones eléctricas.
